Keeping Promises, a Modern Strategic Plan

Dear Friends,

We wanted to share this piece of a recent Daily Herald article about the nearly-completed strategic plan. When the Progress ticket ran for office in 2007, one of our central goals was to create a long-range strategic plan that addressed the current needs of our town. In the past, planning and strategic action was a foreign concept in our village government. Since that time, we have transformed the approach and goals of our village. Now, we are working to put in place a central piece to smart development in the future, which is our strategic plan.

We wanted to take a few minutes pass this along, because we are proud of this step.

This could not have happened withot the guidance of the residents and your direct involvement in your village government. We thank you.

Hanover Park close to finalizing more modern strategic plan
1/6/2011

By Kimberly Pohl
O'Hare flight information Metra service advisories Why Not the Best Web site Why Not the Best Web site Why Not the Best

The last time Hanover Park worked on a strategic plan, shoulder pads, big hair and “ALF” were all the rage.

“Let’s just say the document was getting stale,” Hanover Park Mayor Rod Craig said.

That’s why village leaders are putting the finishing touches on a brand new plan that will replace a mission statement, vision, goals and objectives that date back more than 20 years.

Read more the entire article: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20110106/news/701079672/#ixzz1Bm6kgmOH

Craig Named Northwest Suburban 2009 Newsmaker

This week, the Daily Herald named Mayor Rodney Craig as one of its 2009 Newsmakers

Northwest suburban 2009 newsmakers (click here to read entire article)
Daily Herald Staff Report
Published: 12/28/2009 11:59 AM

The Northwest suburbs had their share of newsmakers in 2009, like every other year. Here are several of the people we talked about during the past 12 months.

Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig:

He isn't the most popular figure in Hanover Park, but he became one of the most visible in 2009, when residents turned to Hanover Park Village President Rod Craig for answers when a sudden surge of violence struck the village.

Four murders occurred within two weeks in late May and early June, and the seemingly isolated slayings were preceded by several gang-related stabbings and shootings.

Craig spoke openly to reporters and to the nervous public in front of packed school gyms to start off gang awareness forums led by police. He tapped former Police Chief Ron Moser to take over as village manager, led an effort to secure stimulus money to hire more police officers, and called on area leaders to take part in a public safety committee he formed. In November, village officials approved a new $19 million police station, to replace the department's current cramped quarters.

The village of Hanover Park has been quieter for the last six months. And that's welcome news to its leader.

(click here to read entire article)
