We believe that we can work together to save tax dollars through sustainable energy options.  For this reason, we support the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance.   Please read the following press release about this initiative.

PRESS RELEASE: Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance: Smart Energy Choices for Hanover Park as we seek to develop sustainable energy by developing windfarms downstate.

Village President, Rodney Craig is pleased to announce a new initiative that brings together School Districts, College Districts, and the Municipality for the betterment of our village.  We have continued to seek solutions to save taxes and act as stewards to the environment.  We have been working to bring together key individuals who can work to address our energy needs.  I am proud to announce the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance organized by the Hanover Park Mayor's Office and that may include Keeneyville School District 20, Lake Park District 108, District U46, District 54, District 93, and Harper College District.  All of these districts touch Hanover Park or Hanover Park residents pay taxes to these districts.

“Currently, legislation is being drafted to benefit the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance,” State Rep. Fred Crespo (D- Hoffman Estates) said.  “I am working closely with Mayor Craig, school districts, and community leaders towards facilitating this very important and beneficial initiative.”

The Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance has great interest in previous Wind Turbine Generator legislation, which is supported by Rep. Fred Crespo that allows school districts and municipalities to work together to create windfarms.  These windfarms would be organized and supported by partnering districts, but built outside of the suburban area.

  • Tax savings for our Citizens
  • More school districts and municipalities to share the financial burdens for building the wind farm
  • Locate the windfarms in rural areas, but still benefit from clean energy
  • ALL of Hanover Park will benefit, not just individuals in the Keeneyville School District
  • The Village of Hanover Park could potentially gain a direct benefit by supporting this initiative
  • Responsible environmental stewardship
  • Leadership in our region that other communities can model

According to a statement from Congressman Peter Roskam’s office, Congressman Roskam is pursuing the reauthorization of Clean Renewable Energy Bonds (CREBs) to facilitate the financing of construction for initiatives like the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance.  He helped introduce as an original cosponsor, HR 5984, the Clean Energy Tax Stimulus Act of 2008, which includes a reauthorized extension of the CREBs.  The House has yet to consider HR 5984, but Congressman Roskam is joining with other members in pressing the House leadership to bring the bipartisan, commonsense provisions of HR 5984 to the House floor for a vote.

The Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance represents the approach to government that the citizens of Hanover Park deserve.  Along with our school district leaders and our Hanover Park legislators in Springfield, (Senator Millner, Senator Noland, and Representative Ramey) we have worked to find a solution to this issue.  When others have challenged the benefits of the wind turbine and blocked its progress, we have moved forward to create a workable answer and expand the benefits to all of Hanover Park.

Please contact us with any questions.  We will keep you posted on the progress of this legislation and the work of the Alliance.
